Robert T. Jones IV, M.Div., Psy.D.

Dr. Robert T. (“Bob”) Jones IV is a licensed psychologist at the Behavioral Institute of Atlanta. He believes therapy begins with truly understanding the whole person—not just their symptoms. Clients describe him as warm, steady, and deeply attentive, with a gift for helping people feel understood without judgment.

Dr. Jones draws from several therapy approaches, including psychodynamic therapy (how past experiences shape current patterns), client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and family-systems work. His favorite perspectives are Jungian psychology, Ericksonian therapy, and CBT because they help clients explore deeper meaning, use their strengths, and clarify unhelpful thoughts.

He is also trained in clinical hypnosis, a focused, relaxed state that can help people reframe difficulties and access inner resources in a powerful, lasting way.

With decades of experience—including many years in underserved areas—Dr. Jones works comfortably with adolescents, adults, and older adults. He is especially drawn to clients who feel isolated, uncertain, overwhelmed by self-doubt, or “behind” in life.

Dr. Jones creates a therapy space that is conversational, respectful, and collaborative. His guiding belief is simple: “I pave the highway and put up the guardrails. You drive the car.”
